The only information about this photo is a notation on the back, in a child’s hand: “McClain famly“. I don’t know where this was taken or what the occasion was, but it appears to have brought together the Lee Scotts, the Bernard McClains and the Lloyd Wrights.
Unfortunately the aim of the photographer was off a bit, so we lost some people on the left.
The couple in back on the right of the group is Lloyd and Florence Wright. The couple in back in the middle of the group (allowing for the people who are outside the frame on the left) is Bernard and Esther McClain. I imagine Lee and Betty Scott are outside the frame on the left, in back. That may be Lee’s head just barely visible in the top left corner of the photo.
In the middle-ish row, Judy McClain is against the left edge of the photo. To the right of her are two boys, the only boys in a sea of girls, Arthur Wright and Jim Scott (Jim in front). To the right of the boys and sort of behind them is Clara Wright. In front of Clara and slightly to the right is Joyce McClain. To her right, in front of Florence, is Dorothy Wright. In front of Joyce is sister Janet McClain. The two girls to the left of Janet are Kathy and Nancy Scott (Kathy on the left).
Missing and presumed to be off the left edge of the frame are Donna and Kathryn Wright.
I don’t know when Kathryn first took on the role of family photographer, but it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that she is the one who took this photo. She would have been about 11 at the time.
I was tempted to crop the photo much more tightly around the group on the right side. But I left the photo intact in case those of you who were there in person might see something in the background that would cause you to recognize the location or be prompted to remember it. If you do, please leave a comment to that effect. Thanks so much!
