Florence McClain and her Sweet Peas, 1924

I’ve mentioned before that Mom liked to grow flowers. Here is another example of that.

Mom’s caption for this photo is simply “me and my sweet peas.”

After slogging through so many photos that were faded and blurry, it is nice to come upon one that is sharp, not too faded, and on top of that, well composed, with perfect lighting. I really like this photo! I wish I knew who took it.

I almost don’t need to mention that it was taken outside the McClain house in Tallman.  I’m guessing the year was about 1926  Based on the fact that this photo was given to Aunt Clara as a gift for Christmas 1924, the photo was evidently taken that year, when Mom was  16  14 years old.

  1. I just came across this photo given as a gift to Aunt Clara for Christmas 1924. Therefore it was taken earlier than my original guess, meaning Mom was younger than I guessed. I have updated the title and body of the post accordingly.
