The next page of Mom’s photo album has a couple of photos of Mom herself. She indicates they were taken in “1924 or 1925.” She doesn’t say, but it’s easy to see they were taken outside the house in Tallman.
There has to be a story behind the photo above. Mom’s caption just says it is her “with her flowers.” Mom always liked growing flowers, but these must have been special flowers to prompt a photo surrounded by them. Did she enter them in the county fair or something? I don’t know. Unfortunately the photo is too fuzzy for us to fully appreciate them.
Mom’s caption on this photo says simply, “my new coat & hat.” Clearly it is not yet winter coat weather, since a windows is open behind her. I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this was a new coat and hat for the fall she entered high school. If so, the photo would have been taken in late summer/early fall of 1924.
What 14-year-old girl would wear such a coat and hat to high school in this day and age? I think it is beautiful, but that shows my age! Wow!
Instead of mom, I saw Becky standing there in her hat and coat! Anyone else see the resemblance?
Yes, I have noticed that also. Quite a strong resemblance, I think.
