Will and Emma Wright in Jefferson, 1930

Uncle Will and Aunt Emma came from Hoquiam, Washington to visit the Wrights in Jefferson in 1930. This photo from Dad’s album shows them in front of the house in Jefferson.

The date of this visit is not recorded, but it seems likely that this was the last time the family saw Uncle Will. He passed away March 18 of the following year (1931), age 58. Aunt Emma passed away two years later (April 1933), age 59. This is covered in more detail in this post.

This photo shows that Uncle Will and Aunt Emma had more frequent contact with the family in Oregon than I, at least, had previously imagined. It was their visit in summer 1927 that was the impetus for the picnic at Waterloo Park, but I had imagined that visit was a one-time event. Clearly it was not. This more frequent contact helps explain why Will’s death affected Grandma (Minnie) so deeply.

Incidentally this photo of Emma told me I had switched Emma and Edith (Will’s and Richard’s wives) in the 1914 photo of those families. I have corrected the identifications in that post.
