Barney McClain, c. 1924-1925

As one would expect, since Mom had a photo album page dedicated to her sister, she had one dedicated to her brother Barney (Bernard) as well. Here are the two photos on that page.

I’m guessing Uncle Barney is 11 or 12 in the above photo, so the year would be 1923 or 1924. Pretty sure that is the McClain house in Tallman in the background.

And I’m thinking the Uncle Barney is 12 or 13 in the above, so 1924 or 1925. The way he is holding his head in the sun, there is a shadow on his upper lip that looks almost like a little mustache.

After leveling the photo images I ended up with non-square edges. The black is where it is filled out to a square edge. It seems to work better visually filling with black than leaving it white as I have done before… in case you were wondering.

  1. Judy has forwarded on some of these recent pictures of Dad you sent.
Thank you so much for documenting and sending these treasures, Lloyd!
What a delight to discover some new photos (and fill in some pieces) of our Dad’s early life!

    Warmly,

    1. Glad you’re enjoying them, Jill. This has been an adventure for all of us, I think. These old photo albums, especially, are kind of like little time capsules.
