Before we get to the photos that are actually in Mom’s album, we will deal with a few loose ones that were slipped inside the front cover. And even before we get to the loose ones, there are some photos glued to a sheet of paper with the title “PIctures” at the top, written in pencil in what appears to be a child’s printing. Most of the photos glued to this sheet have been physically cropped in some way. Some of them have accompanying notations, not all of which are legible. These notations are written in ink and appear to be different than the printing of the “Pictures” title. We start with three photos of Mom herself. They are labeled “3 yr.”, “3½” and “4 yr.” Unfortunately it appears to me that one of these labels is in error and the “3 yr.” and “4 yr.” photos were taken much closer together in time than that.
It is no surprise that all the photos glued to this sheet of paper are a little beat up. Set your expectations accordingly.
First, the photo labeled “3½” (I take that to be Mom’s age in the photo):
I have no location information for this photo. The age notation suggests it was taken in late 1913 or early 1914.
Next, two photos that certainly appear to have been taken within a fairly short amount of time of each other (a lot less than a year, certainly). The outfit and the bow appear to be the same in both. The shoes are different and Mom’s hair is a bit shorter on the sides in the second.
I think that is the Hammell’s house at 122 NE Sherman St behind Mom in this photo. Perhaps this photo was taken at a celebration of Mom’s fourth birthday (June 6, 1914).

My guess is that this second photo of the two was taken in connection with Uncle Clyde McClain’s wedding on June 10, four days after Mom’s fourth birthday. It appears that Mom may have been a flower girl in the wedding. Possibly that is the bride (what is visible of her) in the background. Mom appears somewhat less than thrilled with the proceedings.
