This will be the last photo from the “Pictures” sheet of paper tucked into the front of Mom’s photo album. There are two more photos on the sheet besides this one. One is a copy of a photo that was posted some time ago. The other is a copy of a photo that is also inside the album (and that one is in better condition), so that one will be posted as we go through the album itself.

There is no indication of Mom’s age in the photo below or of the year it was taken. My guess is that she is about 15 years old. An advisor thinks she is closer to 13. You can decide for yourself.

Two big surprises for me in this photo. One, I didn’t know Mom ever had even a casual interest in riding a horse. (Admittedly this is pretty casual, with no bit and bridle.) She does seem to be enjoying herself.

Second, I didn’t realize Mom ever in her life had hair this long. It is possible that her hair was this long in other photos from this time frame, but it wasn’t obvious because her hair was behind her back. This photo makes it clear.

I presume this photo was taken on the McClain farm in Tallman. That appears to be Grandpa McClain in the background on the right edge of the photo.
