Unfortunately this photo has a number of problems. This is particularly sad, because there aren’t many photos like this, of either of the Hammells with all their grandchildren. In this case, it is Sarah Hammell (Great-Grandma Hammell), seated, surrounded by her grandchildren.

Standing behind Sarah, from left, is Pat Hutchins and Bernard, Florence and Betty McClain. Billy Hutchins is seated in front. It is hard to say for sure, but possibly the house in the background is the Hammell’s, on N. Sherman in Albany.

I imagine the photo was taken by Sarah’s husband John (Great-grandpa Hammell).

Sarah Hammell turned 65 on May 20, 1927. This is entirely speculation, but possibly this photo was taken on her birthday, and possibly that year.
