This picture is more about the house than the people. This house stood at address 1027 Seventh Ave SE in Albany for over 110 years starting about 1908. I believe I was told that It was built by Grandpa (Arthur) McClain (correct please inform me if you have some other information on that). Mom (Florence), Uncle Barney and Aunt Betty (Scott) were born here. The McClains lived in this house from when it was built until about 1918, at which time they moved to Tallman (between Albany and Lebanon).

As you can see from this photo, at the time the house was built it was kind of on the on the edge of this part of Albany.
The people in the photo are (from left): Great-Grandpa (Nathan) McClain, Grandma (Addie McClain), Uncle Barney, Mom (Florence) with the doll carriage, Grandpa (Arthur McClain), and on the hammock, Bessie Hammel (Grandma’s younger sister).
At this time, Grandpa worked at Veal’s Chair Factory, which was just a few blocks away.
I’m sad to report the house was destroyed in a fire Sunday (18 August 2019). Photo from the Albany Democrat-Herald of the burned-out house is below.

Another bit of history bites the dust… :–(
