A. McClain children, c. 1919

This is sort of a follow-on to Tuesday’s PotD. Same children, without the adults, maybe a year or two earlier. They are standing on the porch of the McClain house in Tallman (the house that was in the background of Tuesday’s photo). At least I think that’s where they are. Most of you can probably figure out the names without my telling you, but just in case, from the left: Mom (Florence McClain) standing behind Aunt Betty (Sarah Elizabeth McClain), Uncle Barney (Bernard McClain), Pat Hutchins. I don’t have the name of the cat at hand. ;–) But believe it or not, I think Aunt Betty mentioned its name in some context, so I may actually have it somewhere!

Some of you were commenting a while back about the unique way Mom held her hands. It shows up (I think) in Tuesday’s photo and today’s also. At the same time, in today’s photo she looks like she is ready to grab Aunt Betty in case she falls or tries to wander away, so that may be a factor in this particular case.

I didn’t ever get to meet Mom’s dad. He died in 1947 in a fall. (I’ll save that story for another time. It deserves its own telling.) I know my older siblings have fond memories of him. Just based on pictures I’ve seen, it would not have occurred to me that Mom looked like her dad. But in this particular picture, I note a strong resemblance.
