A Birthday Party, 1945

I know nothing about this photo except what is noted on the back of it. This is Decker Halstead’s fifth birthday party, in 1945. I don’t know who Decker Halstead was, or the nature of the relationship between the Halsteads and the Lloyd Wright family. I imagine the Halsteads lived in or near Monroe.

I presume Decker was Art’s friend, since they were the same age. Art is third from the right in the row of standing boys. The hosts were apparently kind enough to invite siblings of Decker’s friends also. I believe that’s Dorothy, second from right, kneeling in the front. I’m less certain of this, but I think the girl kneeling on the left may be Kathryn. I can’t identify any others in this photo. (Those of you who attended this party, feel free to provide additional identifications. Thanks.)

  1. Wow! I’d need to depend on Kathryn or Dorothy to help remember Decker Halstead or any other of those cute kids.. I don’t rememer a thintg ecept that I;m wearing my favorite, at the time, sailor outfit.

  2. You have done very well, Lloyd, in identifying the 3 (at that time) youngest siblings. I would have missed them! But you are (I think) right on!

  3. I thought I responded to this post! I don’t know what happened to my comments. But I have no recollection of the party or of Decker. But I believe you have correctly identified the three of us!
