As was mentioned in this previous post, Donna Wright’s birthday was just one day before her Grandpa Arthur McClain’s birthday. I imagine their birthdays were celebrated together quite often. Here are a couple of photos of Donna with her grandfather that I imagine were taken on the occasion of such joint birthday celebrations.

Such a great photo of the two of them! This photo was taken on the McClain farm in Tallman in October 1940. (I’m estimating that was the year, anyway.)

I believe this photo was taken in October 1944, but I’m not sure where. The brick structure in the background doesn’t resemble anything I remember seeing in photos of the Tallman farm. By October 1944, the Lloyd Wright family was living in Monroe, and the few photos I’ve seen of the house there didn’t show any brick. If you know where this is, please comment.
It’s a pity this photo is so far out of focus. It looks as though it would also have been a wonderful one of the two of them.
It is sad to think that Grandpa Arthur passed away as the result of a fall on the Tallman farm just 2½ years after this photo was taken.
Such a cute picture of Donna! She was most blessed to know Grandpa better than we who came later!
Grandpa really loved his grandchildren! He was infinitely patient and kind and had such a warm heart.
