Florence McClain & Dorothy Holmes, Tallman, c. 1933

There must be a story behind this somewhat grainy photo, but I don’t know what it is.

This is Mom (Florence McClain) and Dorothy Holmes (Mom’s friend from nursing school) on the McClain farm in Tallman, standing on the bumper of a Chevrolet. That much is clear. But why?

The answer (or part of it) may lie in the identification of the car. I believe This is Dad’s (Lloyd Wright’s) 1924 Chevrolet Coupe. If that is correct, Dad almost certainly took the photo. In Dad’s photography during this period, he seems to have experimented a lot with creative poses for his subjects. This may be an other example of that.

Great photo of Mom and Dorothy, whatever the story is.

  1. Mom looks so lovely…an expression in response to the person taking the picture, maybe??

  2. The answer to the question (“Why”) is Why Not!!!
    I agree with Kathryn!
