This is a portrait of Bessie (Hammell) Radford. I don’t have a date for it, but I’m guessing it was taken in the 1940s, when Bessie was in her 50s.

Bessie passed away in 1951 at age 63. A summary of her rather difficult life was given in this post. Compared to her parents and siblings, she died quite young. Her mother lived to be almost 80, her sister to almost 87, and her father and brother to age 95.
It is interesting….this is how I remember her looking. Thanks for posting it.
That is the face of her in my memory! My only memory of her is how fast she talked!
That is what she looked like! Have I already told you of her “tradition”? If she came to our house and we weren’t home (of course no one locked his house when gone) she would go in and put the chairs up on the table or other queer things. Then when we came home we immediately knew that Aunt Bessie had been here. I got the impression that we weren’t the only ones that got that “treatment.”
