Anna Wright Out of Doors, c. 1932

It is interesting that Anna Wright (Aunt Ann) doesn’t show up in any of the photos of excursions up Snow Peak or Mary’s Peak or other similar outings. One might get the impression she preferred being at home. While that may be partially true, today’s photos show that it wasn’t unknown for her to be outdoors.

It seems clear that these photos were not all taken on the same outing (although the first two may have been). I have a date for only the last of the three. I am guessing that the others were taken within a year or so of that date. I don’t know where they were taken or by whom.

Florence McClain and Anna Wright cooling their feet. As has been mentioned in a previous post, Florence and Anna were friends well before Florence developed a romantic relationship with Anna’s brother, Lloyd.
Anna among the ferns. On the strength of Anna wearing what appear to be the same clothes as in the first photo above, this photo and the one above may have been taken on the same outing.
Anna on a trail. I have a date of September 1932 for this photo. Someone cropped this photo into a rough oval with scissors. Unfortunately there was a note on the back of the photo before it was cropped that would have given more information. The remains of the note may indicate that this photo was taken on a trip to Hood River. This is probably somewhere in the Gorge, if so.

  1. What endearing pictures! A. Ann may not have been on some outings because she was helping Grandma Wright. I get the impression that she was depended upon a whole lot by the whole Wright family. She was the “work horse”. Wish I could have realized at a younger age how much she sacrificed to keep the family cared for. I think this characteristic was what made Dad love/appreciate her so much.
