In this photo we have Sarah Hammell with grandchildren Florence and Bernard in front of the McClain home at 1027 E. Seventh in Albany. If it was taken in summer 1913, Florence would have been three and Bernard, one.

In the lower right corner of the photo one can see the shadow of the hatted head of John Hammell, presumably behind the camera.
This is a cute look at Great-Grandma Hammell with Mom, Uncle Barney, a chair and a wagon. This photo also provides a view of the relatively rural nature of E. Seventh (now Seventh Avenue SE) looking east from 1027 at that time. Even though today one block to the right of this view is a highway, in many respects the view down Seventh Avenue hasn’t really changed that much in one hundred plus years. One of the bigger and sadder changes since is the loss of the house at 1027 to fire almost a year ago.
What an adorable picture! It captures so much history!
Very cute pictured! It shows Mamma’s concern over her younger brother; she seems to be making sure he is O.K.
