This photo is on a page of Dad’s album with just “1928” as a caption. This is Lee and John, of course, standing on the porch of the house in Jefferson.

Since the porch faced east south, the sun angle suggests the time is perhaps mid-morning or a little earlier mid-afternoon or a little later. So perhaps the boys were off to school or church had just gotten home from school? (Don’t know whether boys wore ties to school in those days.)
The dog in the corner of the porch appears to be the same dog Mina is holding as a puppy in the photo in this post. That post includes Mina’s account of how the dog, which she named Prince, eventually disappeared after the family moved to Jefferson. So although she doesn’t say precisely how soon the dog disappeared, the presence of the dog in this photo suggests it was probably taken earlier in 1928 rather than later.
If this photo was taken at the end of March (just for argument’s sake) that would mean John had just turned 13 and Lee was almost 10.
Great photo of the boys!
