Bessie Hutchins and Florence McClain, c. 1912

Studio portrait of Bessie Hutchins (nee Hammell) and Florence McClain, taken around 1912.

This photo is interesting because Bessie is almost smiling, Florence is smiling, and her mouth is not blacked out (revealing—horrors!—that she has a tongue and teeth). There does appear to have been slight limbal ring enhancement, but it is pretty subtle.

Bessie was about 24 and had been married about two years when this photo was taken. Florence was 2, maybe 2½, I’m guessing.

It’s an especially cute photo of Mom, I think.
