This is a photo of Lloyd Wright at about six months old, taken in spring 1906. It was taken in a studio in White Lake, South Dakota, according to the imprint on the mounting card.

Several things strike me about this photo:
- The nice-looking baby gown and the nice surroundings of the photo studio here are such a contrast with the situation of the waifs on the Alberta prairie about seven years later.
- Those of you who were familiar with both men may disagree with me, but I didn’t think my father as an adult resembled his father much. But I think the resemblance is quite striking in this baby photo.
- Studio portraits must have been hugely popular at this time if even the rural train stop of White Lake could support its own photo studio (as, evidently, it could).
