Donna, Clara, Arthur, in Monroe, Easter 1945

These three photos were apparently taken on the porch of the house the Lloyd Wrights lived in, in Monroe. Since the clothing seems to match what is in the Easter group photos of that year (in this previous post), evidently these photos were taken on that same day.

Each of these would be a really good photo of its subject but for the abundance of graininess, dirt, focus issues, and fading over time (unfortunately).

Donna Wright, age 10½ but looking very grown up
Clara Wright, age 8. I would never have imagined that Clara was ever “pudgy,” but she appears to be so here. It didn’t last, of course.
Arthur Wright, nearly 5 years old, holding what appears to be a black puppy

There surely must have been similar photos taken of Kathryn and Dorothy on this occasion, but they are not with the above photos in the album I am working through. Possibly they will turn up elsewhere.

  1. Regarding Clara, her clothing is not doing her any favors. Oh well: all that soon changed!
