IntroductionWelcome to the biography of our father, Lloyd Evert Wright. Before you proceed to read it (and I hope you will), let me provide some information that may aid you. The site design: I make no claim of being a good web designer. It will probably be obvious that I am not. The site is intentionally monochromatic. The colors and background are intended to convey a sense of reading an old document. Visitors to the site will have their own opinions about whether or not this “works.” I hope, though, that this does not interfere significantly with your enjoyment of the content presented here. The “techie” stuff: This website is designed to work well with all display resolutions from 800x600 up. As far as I know, it uses fonts that exist in nearly all versions of Windows. I do not have access to a Mac, so I have no way of knowing how the pages will appear on that platform. The pages require Javascript to be enabled in your web browser. For most, that should not be a problem. But without that, the pages will be largely unusable. I have made every effort to confirm that the pages are compatible with Internet Explorer (the web browser that comes with Windows). However, the browser that I personally use and recommend is Mozilla Firefox (free, open source software). Navigating these pages: Every page has a menu at the top of the left margin that allows you to jump to any chaper of the biography easily. Simply click on the chapter or section you wish to read. At the bottom of each page are links to the previous page and the next page. If your browser does not display the navigation menu in the left margin or the next/previous links at the bottom of the page, you can navigate by means of the Site Map. Reading footnotes: If you hate trying to find footnotes like I do, and the way that it interrupts reading, you will appreciate this feature: If you come across a footnote number in the text and wish to read the corresponding footnote without having to lose your place, simply move your mouse cursor over the footnote number or the text immediately preceding it. Do not click anything! A box containing the footnote text will appear, allowing you to read the footnote. When you are finished, move the mouse cursor away from the footnoted text and the box will disappear. The footnotes also appear at the bottom of each chapter/web page, which is better for printing. Copyright: The contents and layout of this website are copyrighted. This means you may not copy them and use them elsewhere. If for some reason you would like to do that, send email (address below) and permission likely will be granted for a non-commercial use. Images: The images on this site are owned by the indicated individual or organization. If no credit is given, the image is believed to be in the public domain.
